Astoria, situated in the western part of Queens, New York City, is bordered by the East River and neighboring Queens areas: Long Island City, Sunnyside, Woodside, and East Elmhurst. With an estimated 2019 population of 95,446, it was originally named Hallet’s Cove, renamed after John Jacob Astor in the 19th century to attract his investment. The area saw growth in the 19th century due to economic and commercial expansion, becoming part of Long Island City in 1870 and later part of Greater New York City in 1898. Throughout the 20th century, Astoria remained a hub for industry and filmmaking. Today, Astoria is booming with eateries, shopping etc. A fabulous place to live and experience.
