The Bronx, a borough of New York City, shares borders with Westchester County to the south, Manhattan to the south and east across the Harlem River, and Queens to the east across the East River. Covering 42 square miles, it had a population of 1,472,654 in the 2020 census. Known for its diversity, the Bronx is divided by the Bronx River into hilly and flatter sections.
